About

Hi! 🙂 – My name is Marco A. Hudelist and I’m a software engineer and former computer scientist. I’m currently employed at priorIT EDV-Dienstleistungen GmbH located in the Lakeside Park in Klagenfurt/Carinthia after four years working as a research assistant and post-doc at the Alpen-Adria Universität Klagenfurt. At priorIT we make all kinds of cool stuff but are currently focused on bad ass, complex, pro software for collecting societies – you should definitely check out our website! In my days as researcher I  concentrated on new ways to interactively search and browse through image and video collections. For this, I utilized traditional desktop computers as well as modern mobile platforms like smartphones and tablets.

I graduated from the secondary college for electronic data processing in Villach, Austria (with distinction) and studied Computer Science at the Alpen-Adria Universität Klagenfurt. I received my Bakk. techn. degree (BSc) in May 2010 and my Dipl.-Ing. degree (MSc, with distinction) in July 2012. In my bachelor thesis I participated in creating and evaluating new interacion techniques for multi-monitor environments. During my internship at econob – Informationsdienstleistungs GmbH I was responsible for design and implementation of visualization interfaces for financial prediction data. In my master thesis I presented new 3D image browsing techniques for mobile devices with touchscreens and evaluated them to classical 2D grid-like image arrangements. I joined the FWF project “Next-Generation Video Browsing” as project assistant in August 2012. In July 2015 I received my Dr. techn. degree (PhD, with distinction). In my thesis I report about my work on improving the search interaction on mobile devices for image and video collections. I show results of surveys, user studies, performance evaluations for on-the-fly mobile content analysis tasks as well as present some future ideas in the form of prototypes for improved mobile image and video browsing.
